Board of Directors

Michael R. Frost is President of LTI Printing, Inc. He has been a Director of the Company since 2014. He is a Board of Trustees member for the Sturgis Area Community Foundation, as well as serving on their Investment Committee. LTI Printing, Inc. is not a parent, subsidiary or other affiliate of the Company.

Keene Taylor is a partner at Realty Executives and Real Property Management in Saint Joseph, MI, after formerly spending over 36 years in the banking industry. He has been part of the Southwest Michigan community all his life and is active locally in the Lion’s Club and Berrien Community Foundation. Since October 2021, he has proudly served on the St. Joseph Banking Center Community Advisory Board, utilizing his wealth of knowledge to better our community banks.

Kimberlee Bontrager is President/Owner of Locey CPA, LLC. She has been a Director of the Company and Bank since 2016. She is a Certified Public Accountant, who previously was employed at Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, TN, where she served as VP of Finance in charge of accounting, financial, banking, IT, and construction operations for the University. She is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sturgis and serves as President of the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County. She also serves on the board and finance committees of the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Services organization, Thurston Woods Village and Glen Oaks Community College.

Jason Halling is a member of the Board of Directors, Oak Press Solutions Inc. and Treasurer Vice President Business Development at Burr Oak Tool Inc., Sturgis, MI. He has been a Director of the Company since 2019. He is active in the City of Sturgis Economic Development Corporation, Sturgis Improvement Association/Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, and Sturgis Historical Society. Halling previously was a financial auditor and consultant with Ernst & Young, LLP, Chicago, IL and a licensed CPA in Illinois.

Sturgis Bank Chief Executive Officer

Jason Hyska is Chief Executive Officer of Sturgis Bank and President and CEO of Sturgis Bancorp. He joined Sturgis Bank and Trust Company in 1996 as a teller and was soon promoted to a loan processor. He has held additional roles as Banking Center Manager and Loan Officer, and Vice President, Head of Retail Lending. Jason graduated from Bronson High School, Western Michigan University with a degree in finance, the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Notre Dame with a Masters of Business Administration. Jason is a Sturgis Rotary Club member and Past President. He served as Chair of the Branch County Conservation District. Jason is well known in the banking industry and serves on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Bankers Association (MBA) and is Past Chair of the Retail Lending Committee.

Jeffrey M. Mohney is owner and CEO of A.W. Ayres Agency, Inc.. He is a Licensed Insurance Counselor. He has been a Director of the Company and Bank since 2006. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sturgis and is a United Way Leadership Giver. He is president of the board of directors for KeyStone Place. He founded and serves as president on the board of directors for the Mohney Foundation, a private charity focused on helping people with physical and mental disabilities find affordable housing. Neither A.W. Ayres Insurance Agency nor Noecker Insurance Agency is a parent, subsidiary or other affiliate of the Company.

Sturgis Bank President and Chief Operating Officer

Matt Scheske serves as President and Chief Operating Officer. He joined Sturgis Bank and Trust Company in 1999. Matt worked part-time as a teller and intern before transitioning to a full-time role in 2003 as a commercial lender following undergraduate graduation. Matt was promoted to Senior Vice President and Head of Commercial Lending in 2018. He is a graduate of Condordia University (Wisconsin) with a degree in mathematics and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. Matt earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame, graduating magna cum laude. Active in the Sturgis community, Matt serves as President of the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Camp Fort Hill Board of Directors. He also is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Board of Directors, the Doyle Center Board of Directors, and coaches little league and other sports.
