Overdraft Protection
An overdraft is when you don't have enough money in your account to cover a transaction and the Bank pays it. A declined transaction is when you don't have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, and the Bank does not pay it.
Sturgis Bank wants to help our customers avoid declined transactions and overdraft fees, so we offer two options to help manage your finances when life's challenges arise.
A sweep account automatically transfers available funds from a linked savings account to your checking account when needed. This seamless solution helps cover shortfalls without requiring any action and ensures everyday transactions are processed without interruption.
A Demand Deposit Loan (DDL) provides a line of credit linked to your checking account. When your balance falls below zero, funds are automatically advanced from the DDL to cover the overdraft. This option requires a credit application and approval, but once in place, it serves as a reliable backup for managing unexpected expenses or temporary cash flow gaps.
